Thanksgiving Vacation: There will be no school next week. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Snow Boots: Elementary and secondary students are welcome to wear snow boots during the snow season.
Elementary
Utensils: If necessary, please be sure to include utensils with your child’s lunch. We’ve seen some creative problem solving going on at the lunch table recently.
3rd Grade Play: This Friday the 3rd graders will be performing The Three Princes, by Peter Leithart. The show will open at 8:35 AM with a Kindergarten recitation. All are welcome.
Secondary
Weekly Test Schedule: Thank you for your feedback regarding the Test Schedule. We are glad that it has been a help, and we will keep sending it out each Friday afternoon.
Blue vs. White Scrimmage: The varsity boys’ basketball team will host an exhibition game the day after Thanksgiving, November 27 at 6:00 PM. All are welcome to come out and see this year’s squad go head to head in the Knight’s Court. Admission is free.
Study Tip of the Week
Over the past couple years we have had a few questions about the school’s policy regarding keeping old tests for younger siblings to use in subsequent years. For example, I have children in grades 9, 8, 5, 4, 2, and Preschool this year. If I was inclined to save tests from year to year, could I use those tests to help the next child study for the same test one or two years later? The short answer is, no. Students who have access to the previous year’s tests and answers have a distinct and unfair advantage over the other students in the class. Teachers, both in the elementary and secondary, provide review sheets before each test. This is what the students should use (along with notes, previous work, etc.) as they prepare for tests. At Logos, using someone else’s old test to study for your test is cheating.

Elementary
Homework-o-Meter: Please remember to fill these out over the course of the week and return them to the classroom teachers on November 16. This helps us gauge the amount of homework our elementary students are doing each night.
Secondary
Weekly Test Schedule: We are working to make the Weekly Test Schedule as accurate as possible. Please stay flexible as occasional adjustments will be made based on a myriad of details. In order to encourage and recognize individual student responsibility in our older students, we are considering only supplying this schedule for the 7th-9th grade students. Please let me know if this would cause any heartburn for your family.
Extracurricular Activities and Schoolwork: There are lots of great activities going on in the secondary (girls volleyball tournament, Nicholas Nickleby production, junior high boys basketball games, high school boys basketball tryouts, etc.). At Logos, school comes first. This means that students who participate in extracurricular activities will be held to the same standard as everyone else. Students should look ahead, plan ahead, and redeem the time during busy seasons like this.

Logos Cross Country 2009
The Logos Cross Country teams had another very successful year. We, as a team, were ranked #1 in 1A Districts 1-6. Logos beat many bigger schools such as Moscow, Lewiston, Clarkston, Lake City, Sandpoint, Post Falls, etc. The Logos boys came in 1st place in 5 of our meets.
The Logos JH boys Cross Country team had a perfect year remaining undefeated in all 10 of our meets including the prestigious Farragut Invite and the Bi-State Championship. Our Logos boys team ranked #1 in Idaho with Paul Ryan ranking #1 individually for the 1.5 mile race.

General
Interschool Speech Meet: The interschool speech meet will take place November 6. The secondary students will compete here at Logos and the elementary competitors will travel to the Oaks in Spokane. We currently have enough drivers and chaperones, but of course other parents are welcome to come along and support their kids.
Fight’n Knight Shirts: This Friday is the first day of the MCL Volleyball Tournament. Fight’n Knight shirts and nice jeans are in. Inter-school speech meet competitors should be in dress uniform until the competition is over.
Elementary
Family Lunch Table: Parents are welcome to come and eat lunch with their students anytime. We have a special Family Table devoted specifically for that.
Homework-o-Meter: Elementary Homework-o-Meters will come home this Friday with your children. Please fill these out over the course of the next week and return them to the classroom teachers on November 16. This helps us gauge the amount of homework our elementary students are doing each night.
Secondary
Winter Activities: Winter is an exciting time in the secondary with knowledge bowl, mock trial, and basketball all starting up. Mr. Carnahan is working hard to schedule these three activities so that there are very few or no conflicts between them. If your child wants to participate in more than one of these events, it is important that he communicate this to his coaches before the season begins.
Guidelines for Keeping Sick Children Home
Colds: Please keep your child at home if he has a fever over 100 degrees or is experiencing discomfort that would interfere with his ability to perform in school (i.e. uncontrollable coughing, severe lack of energy).
Conjunctivitis (pink-eye): Following a diagnosis of bacterial conjunctivitis, the child may return to school after the first dose of prescribed medication.
Diarrhea/Vomiting: A child with diarrhea and / or vomiting should stay at home and return to school only after being symptom-free for 24 hours.
Fever: The child should remain at home with a fever greater than 100 degrees. The child can return to school after he has been fever free for 24 hours (without fever-reducing medicine such as Tylenol or Motrin).
